Chapman Mills Conservation Area

Enjoy a 1.5 km stroll through some of the Rideau’s most sensitive and beautiful habitats. Lookouts, walkways and boardwalks lead visitors through natural shoreline, wetlands and flood plain areas that are unique in the City of Ottawa. Chapman Mills is located off Regional Road 73 between Winding Way and Lodge Road. The parking lot is off of Winding Way.

Baxter Conservation Area

Explore 68 hectares and follow over five kilometres of trails through wetlands, conifer plantations, mixed forest, alder thickets, nut groves, wildflower gardens and a solar energy display. In the summer, take a refreshing dip in the Rideau at the Baxter beach. Baxter Conservation Area is on Regional Road 13 (Dilworth Road) off Highway 416, south of Kars.

Dickinson Square Conservation Area

Rich in natural and cultural history, Dickinson Square is an ideal stop in the Village of Manotick. Visit Watson’s Mill — a 19th century grist mill that is still in working condition. Stroll across the dam and feed some of the resident ducks or picnic in front of the historic Dickinson House. Dickinson Square is located just south of Ottawa.

Foley Mountain Conservation Area

High atop a granite ridge overlooking the historic Upper Rideau waterway and Village of Westport is Foley Mountain. Foley is famous for its dynamic, hands-on, programs for school children and youth groups. Enjoy the scenic lookout, sandy beach, hiking and cross country skiing trails. Find us off County Road 10 up the “mountain."
